Flyting
Flyting is our first game! It is a card based party game for people who like to debate why they should be the winner!
In standard play, a judge draws a prompt card. Players take turns playing a character card with a modifier card and pitching to the judge why they are the clear winner. Other players are encouraged to voice their own opinions at any time. The judge will select a winner and the player is awarded a point!
To add add more fun there are additional ways to play, such as drawing an additional random modifier from the top of the modifier deck as you make your pitch.
In arena mode, you face off against a single opponent and the rest of the table votes on the winner!
Flyting's Journey
Sharpies, Blanks, and Sleeves
Flyting originally was called, "I Choose you," and then, "Who?" before becoming "Flyting".
It was originally ~100 cards that I hand wrote on poker-sized blanks and (eventually) stuffed into card sleeves. I played it a few times with some close friends. Then I made another 100ish cards and I played it some more! Eventually it was over 400 cards and I knew it was time to see what these cards would look like from a real manufacturer.
Prototype Ordering
I decided I was having fun and other people probably would, too. I took some time revising the cards and getting the card count up to 500, playing with some digital art tools, and uploading some files to https://www.thegamecrafter.com/ to print a prototype!
These were a couple paper print-outs I made to get a first peak at what the box and cards would look like!
First Printed Prototype
This first prototype from https://www.thegamecrafter.com/ was printed on UV coated, linen, black core cards. They came out pretty freakin' awesome. The box and rulebook came out great, too. This prototype has been played all over the place with friends, family, strangers, and at conventions.
Playtesting
Playtest, playtest, playtest. Really awesome people have played the game, gave cool card ideas, provided feedback on the rules, and I learned a lot.
I brought Flyting to the Gencon 2023 First Exposure Playtest Hall and showed it to other designers and manufacturers and had a great time meeting and learning from everyone!
Crowdfunding
I'm still figuring out when/where this is going to happen....but it will happen!
